Scheming begins in 2020 – born out of a desire to create something that didn’t exist and in search of a pandemic project. Unsatisfied with the sequencers that I’d experimented with, I wanted to create that allowed the generative possibilities I imagined: probabilistic sequencing, polyrhythmic possibilities, parts derived from others – but was tactile and put the creative process at my fingertips.
Experiments began with hardware parts I could source.

Custom parts were designed – a board to handle the rotary encoders and screen interface

A face plate was made and manufactured

And some time spent assembling!!

And finally I had some hardware to build software for!
