A rather enjoyable feature allows tracks to be linked together, processed, thereby affecting another track. In this example a sequence’s notes are advanced by notes in other tracks, the combination of different time signatures on the triggering tracks is really fun to play with.
The visual representation here is from a hardware emulator (which allows development without needing to bring the hardware, but also allows for a clearer understanding of user interaction than a video obscured by hands).
Scheming begins in 2020 – born out of a desire to create something that didn’t exist and in search of a pandemic project. Unsatisfied with the sequencers that I’d experimented with, I wanted to create that allowed the generative possibilities I imagined: probabilistic sequencing, polyrhythmic possibilities, parts derived from others – but was tactile and put the creative process at my fingertips.
Experiments began with hardware parts I could source.

Custom parts were designed – a board to handle the rotary encoders and screen interface

A face plate was made and manufactured

And some time spent assembling!!

And finally I had some hardware to build software for!
